T-102Communications — Data Networking

Data Networking

Switching, routing, and wireless that stays up — and stays segmented.

Most network problems are not network problems. They are a bad cable run, an unmanaged switch someone bought online, or a wireless design that was never surveyed. We design the network around the building, install it properly, and segment it so that a camera or a door controller cannot reach the machines your business runs on.

AWhat the install covers

  • Site survey and network design, including wireless heat mapping
  • Managed switching and routing, configured and documented
  • VLAN segmentation keeping cameras and door controllers off the business network
  • Firewall deployment and rule sets
  • Labelled patch panels and an as-built diagram you actually keep

O&MAfter handover

What we keep doing once it works.

Included in a management agreement. Without one, this is the part that quietly stops happening the day the installer drives away.

How managed service works →
  • Link and device monitoring with alerting before users notice
  • Firmware and security patching on a schedule
  • Configuration backups so a dead switch is a swap, not a rebuild
  • Capacity review as headcount changes

QCommon questions

Data Networking, asked and answered.

What do network consulting services actually cover?
Surveying what you have, designing what you need, implementing it, and supporting it afterwards. In practice most engagements start with finding out what is actually installed, because it rarely matches the documentation.
Why does network consulting matter for my business?
Because most 'network problems' are not network problems — they are a bad cable run, an unmanaged switch someone bought online, or a wireless design nobody surveyed. Fixing the cause costs less than repeatedly working around the symptom.
How is data centre networking different from ordinary business networking?
It optimises for high throughput and low latency between machines in one place, with equipment built for that density. A typical office network optimises for reliable access from many endpoints to a few services. Different problems, different designs.
How can consulting improve my network's performance?
By identifying where the bottleneck actually is. That is usually an oversubscribed uplink, wireless contention, or an ageing switch — not the internet connection that most people blame and pay to upgrade.
Should cameras and door controllers be on my business network?
Not on the same segment. Cameras and access controllers are among the more reliably exploited devices on any network. They belong on their own VLAN, with only the access they need, so a compromised camera cannot reach your business systems.

T-900Next step

Every job starts with someone walking the building.

A site survey costs you nothing and produces a real drawing — device counts, cable paths, and a fixed number. Not a brochure.
